Teddy Bear Therapy / Play Therapy

I actually took my Snoopy with me all day, rather than a teddy bear for play therapy class. He usually sets on my bed all day with other decorative pillows. Since my sons are used to only seeing Snoopy upstairs, they were surprised to see him in the kitchen during breakfast time. My youngest even asked, "Mom, what is Snoopy doing on the kitchen cabinet?"

Snoopy spent the day with me that I had off from internship. So when I left the house for an appointment with Betsy Johnson in the Mercer Career Center, he traveled along with me in my book bag. Along the way I saw several smiles, and a few "confused" looks. Ms. Johnson stated, "I do believe this is the first time Snoopy has been in my office!" She smiled when I set him on her desk, as if he was watching her work on the computer. I took a photo of the two of them : )

My next stop was Senior Seminar Class, with Dr. Friedman. He smiled and said, "Play Therapy, right?". Several Mercer students smiled, and a few had odd glances. Snoopy was good during class, and also had his picture taken with Dr. Friedman. A couple of my friends picked Snoopy up and hugged him. Since I have always been a Snoopy fan, I really enjoyed having an excuse to bring him along with me : )

Since I am a pet lover, and I like to snuggle when I get the chance, I liked having my Snoopy spend 24 hrs with me. At first I thought it was a silly idea, however, it did remind me of my childhood days. I used to collect stuffed animals and play with them. The Tea Party in my play therapy class was also enjoyable; it enabled me to hear how other graduate student's days went with their teddies, and how they were or were not affected.
