Role Playing Positive Behaviors (Session 4)
Rationale: It is important for children to make the connection that their behavior is similar to their adopted animal (See Lesson 1 and 2).
In this session I have the children make a mask that represents their adopted animal.
After making the mask each child will model and role play with the negative behavior (if appropriate) while wearing the mask.
Then the child is asked to model the new learned positive behavior with the mask (See Lesson 3).
In doing this it allows the child to make the connection between the positive and negative behavior and to practice the positive behavior.

Glue, markers, paint, feathers, glitter, sequins
1. Search for a free mask print out on the internet. My favorite is www.holidayspot.com. Make sure the mask is the appropriate animal that was adopted in the Positive Behavior Group.
2. Print the mask out on cardstock. Allow the child to decorate the mask with art supplies. This will help the child bond with the adopted animal.
3. After the mask is completed role play the negative behaviors that get the child into trouble. Then ask the child to show a new positive behavior to replace each negative behavior. Try to stick with one or two behaviors to change.
Allow the child to take the mask home as a reminder of the new positive behaviors they have learned in group.
Parents love to see a "make and take" activity and the child can practice positive behaviors at home with the parent!
