Play Therapy Inner Child ScrapBook Experience

My Play Therapy Scrap book experience:

I liked the play therapy assignment activity requirements for me to do to get in touch with my inner child, but I did not enjoy making the scrapbook as much.

Being able to get in touch with my inner child brought back a lot of fun activities that I realized I had been missing.

The play therapy scrapbook was tedious to me. I would have rather kept a journal about the feelings and the experience rather than trying to draw it out, or scrap it out.

I don’t really feel as if I enjoyed the process of putting it all together. I did not have some of the things needed, and I am so-so with art projects that are not a natural flowing thing for me. I will take time out for my inner child to play more, I do feel like I thought that I was in touch pretty good with my inner child, because I have 2 children that keep me entertained. I must admit the difference in my activities now, versus my inner child’s preference has been based on my children’s preference.

So I will make it a point to do activities that my inner child loves to do.

The best part of this play therapy experience was going outside just to explore and play like I used to do as a child. I love nature, and I got the best feeling from looking out at the stars this past week. It brought back so many summer night memories. The first night I hunted for constellations, I was kind of sad because I struggled to locate them. It hit me that something I loved to do was almost lost to the adult in me. But, by the second night I was in awe again, as I was able to locate The Big Dipper, The Little Dipper, Aries, and The belt of Orion. It was the excitement of wonder that came back to me that I felt immediately, and felt very happy with my success. Every night since, I have been “star-gazing” at the beautiful heavenly sky and each time I look up I am happy and wonderfully amazed, and I know my inner child is happy too.
Overall the project was good; the only thing I would change is, to journal instead of doing a scrapbook. Journaling is less expensive and seems to help me to stay in touch better with my here and now emotions of each experience. I actually may begin to journal about the re-birth of my inner child and keep track of my emotions associated with my inner child activities. Oh well, time for me to go, I have some constellations to find.
