Vivid Dream Mandala for Play Therapy

Before this play therapy class, I had never heard of a Mandala, which means circle in Sanskrit. I was unsure of what I would draw at first, and not sure of how it would come to me .

According to the website, The word "mandala" represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself.

The website also described it as a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds.

The Night before I completed my Mandala, I had a very vivid dream. In the dream, I was almost hit by a train on the train tracks, due to me hurrying and trying to get somewhere.

When I woke up the next morning, I said to my self, I need to slow down. I have been moving really fast lately, doing too many things at once, and not paying attention.

When I started drawing my mandala, I started thinking of how I feel as if I’m all over the place, sort of like shattered glass .

So I started drawing all these different pieces and decided to use different colors.

At first, I didn’t plan on subscribing meaning to the colors I used, I just knew I wanted to use many different colors, to represent the many emotions, and the many tasks that I have on my plate.

Dealing with working Monday-Friday, going to school, studying for NCE, CPCE, interning, being a wife, wanting a social life, etc, etc, I feel that I am stretched thin.

One minute I’m exhausted, one minute I’m frustrated, the next very tired, and sometimes, even emotionless.

One thing that keeps me hopeful is that I know that I will not have to do all of this forever, and I can do anything for a short period of time.

I actually enjoyed working on this Mandala Project in play therapy class. It was very calming to create and I look forward to making more.
