Extended Sand Tray for sand tray therapy 1

This extended tray for sand tray therapy class was created during the week that I found out that my mother was moving to Georgia. I love my mother but she has a substance abuse problem and I was feeling anxious and frustrated about her pending move. I was starting to feel like my boundaries might be tested, like I was being forced to accept a situation that I was perhaps not ready to accept. I used the purple necklace to create a boundary. I believe in creating boundaries, especially around my family and my inner peace. Outside of the boundary marker is a police officer who is on duty and protecting the sacred space; keeping all intruders out. Throughout the day I placed a few more items into the tray; the cross which represents peace and my spiritual connection with God. The clear stone is placed in the center and represents clarity and clear thinking. The ambulance is placed half way into the circle and half way out of the circle to represent the healing that has taken place and the healing that still needs to happen both within and with my extended family. Clarity in thinking is important because in the past I have become emotionally overwhelmed and had difficulty thinking and making decisions.
This tray was instrumental in reminding me that I have already created boundaries and that I am in control of my life. As long as I am connected with God I will have peace, clarity, healing, and protection. This tray reminded me that no one person can disrupt my life; I cannot give my peace away to anyone. What is going on in somebody’s life does not have to affect my well being. I can co-exist with others on my own terms without losing my peace. My tray is simplistic similar to how I envision my peace and my life; calm, quiet, and simple. The cross and the boundary is probably the strongest peaces in this tray; because the cross gives me the strength to make the boundary and the boundary reminds me of the boundary that I constantly have to create sometimes it is visible to others and sometimes not.
