One day I was walking down the hall and witnessed this adult passing a teacher she was angry with (She was always upset with someone and liked to play the victim role a lot).

I watched her body language as she passed the teacher. The teacher said a friendly "hello" to this adult. Instead of saying "hello" back this adult stuck her nose high in the air, turned her face the other way, and proceeded forward.

I thought, "What if a kid did that when a bully said something mean to them?"

Then I came up with the idea of a supermodel walking on the runway. These supermodels act as if they do not have a care in the world and they also act as if they own the world.

This is a fantastic bullying coping skill for girls to use. I have even had some guys try it.

What you have to do is practice your supermodel walk and attitude. Watch a few runway shows with models and you will see what I am talking about.

Have your child practice the walk, the hair flip, the hand on the hip, nose up in the air stance. Don't forget a couple of turns for when you need to "turn away" from the bully.

Get the facial expression down as well. Make sure you have eye contact. The face should say, "I am a supermodel, don't you dare talk to me like that!"

Of course, this is a bullying coping skill and is not meant to be used on harmless people as the "adult" above used it.
