Building a Sand Tray Bridge for Sand Tray Therapy

The sand tray therapy bridge project was a very interesting process; I have never made a bridge before. I choose to make the bridge out of plastic straws as an alternative to using wood. I created the bridge by bending and taping bendy straws together until I had the length and width that I desired. While creating this bridge I began to think about what meaning I gave the bridge in other words what does a bridge mean to me. I view a bridge as a mechanism to move from one place to another; this movement can be visible to or it can be emotional. For example accomplishing goals may not always be visible to others, but an important accomplishment for self. A bridge may also represent overcoming fears like or engaging in anything that sparks anxiety. So when I think of crossing a bridge the process may be emotional, physical, or cognitive accomplishments. I never know what the result will be when I cross a bridge in my life, but I have learned that I have to take the risk to find out.
My sand tray therapy bridge represents the unknown of crossing a bridge. I placed a blue car on my plastic straw bridge and the car is slightly turned as if it could fall off the bridge because going over this bridge is a little bit rocky. At the bottom of my bridge is a wooden log with a dinosaur behind it to represent obstacles in life. To the right of the log and dinosaur are trees blocking a cross which represents my spirituality and peace; these are obstacles that I have to go around to reach my destination which is peace. In the other corner are more trees blocking a new world (globe) and in the far left corner is a nest with an egg. So, my sand tray therapy bridge will lead me to a nest of treasures, peace, spiritual connection, and a new undiscovered world. I just have to make it over the bridge and past the obstacles.
