Learn Different Ways To Make Play Therapy Miniature Worlds

There are several different options to use when you show your play therapy client how to make a miniature play therapy world.

The easiest way is to use a paper plate and create the play therapy miniature world on top of it. Turn the paper plate upside down an it looks like an island.

I use the plate for Healing Garden, Private Island, and Jungle Play Therapy Miniature world. Make sure the plate is sturdy. I prefer the styrofoam paper plates.

Pop-Up Book Play Therapy Miniature World

Another great way to create a play therapy miniature world is to make a pop-up book.

I like to offer my clients different play therapy techniques using miniatures or clip art.

One way I do this is to use different perspectives and types of miniature play therapy worlds. One way you can create a unique world for your play therapy miniatures is to make a pop-up paper world.

1 11 X 14 Oak Tag Board or Poster Board

Colored Paper Assortment (for Pop-Ups)

Clip Art Miniatures

Directions for Pop-Up Miniature Play Therapy World:

1. Fold your board in half down the middle.

2. Draw three tabs that will “pop-up” onto the board (See pictures below).

3. Cut the drawn tags on the vertical lines to create the “pop-ups”.

4. When you open up the paper you will want to pull the “pop-ups” out.

5. Add personalized cut out pieces to your play therapy miniature world.

Triaramas

Triarama's are another great way to create play therapy miniature worlds. They give a 3-D experience to the play therapy miniature world. Below are the directions to create a triarama play therapy miniature world.

How to make a Triarama Play Therapy Miniature World:

Materials: 9 x 9 white construction paper or poster board scissors glue

Directions:

1. Fold the top right corners of the square down to the lower left corners and repeat with the opposite corners.

2. Open and cut one folded line until you reach the center of the square.

3. Go ahead and draw your preferred background on the top half of the square.

4. Overlap

You can create other play therapy miniature worlds by using a milk jug that is cut out with the handle part still used as a backing.

A pizza or cereal box is also a great way to make a play therapy miniature world.
