My play therapy activity: Cereal Box Theater

My play therapy activity the cereal box theater includes different "scenes" from my life which portray the many roles I live on a regular basis. Once I began searching for the right clip art, I realized that I wear many more hats, so to speak, than I imagined at first.

As always, more time would have been nice to include more clip art along with different ways to present my play therapy cereal box theater.

My clip art scenes can be divided according to favorites, cannot live without, and would rather live without.

My favorites include: family meal time since that has always been a priority for our family, time spent with our pet dog (Copper), plus vacation time when I get to ride jet skis on the ocean and other adventurous outings. I also enjoy singing in the church choir and cheering on my youngest son at his high school football games, along with going to UGA home football games every season. With three sons, I have worn many sports mom "hats" from baseball mom to soccer mom to wrestling mom to track mom ...currently it is football mom. I cannot live without my "me" time; a cup of coffee on my deck or at the beach, ballroom dancing with my wonderful husband, or working in my flower garden. I also take long walks (2 or more miles) or bike rides both for exercise and to think and pray about things. My clip art also includes a group of college students, since I am in graduate school, and exercising at the gym, which I do on a regular basis. The "scenes" I would rather live without are when I have to be Dr. Mom or nurse-mom, go grocery shopping, and house cleaning....from laundry to vacuuming.

I see how using a cereal box theater can be a useful play therapy technique for almost any age. It is a different way to look at yourself, your life, or your life circumstances.
