Seven Extended Sand Tray for Sand Tray Therapy / Student #4
Continuing on with Sand Tray Therapy day 2 of seven, this sand tray can be titled "us against the world."
On this day I found out my grandfather had passed away. He is represented by the owl, who has his back turned to the world. The blue figurine represents my sadness and difficulty with my feelings towards his passing. The figurine with the blue hat and red shirts represents my feelings of being unable to attend the funeral in Canada, because I have to stay home and take care of my niece. The gray figurine crouching down represents my fear of the unknown, of all of the changes that are going on in life at the current moment. The red figurine represents my anger with my current situation I am dealing with. The prisoner represents how I feel as though I am a prisoner of the current circumstances I am dealing with, none of which I can control. I feel trapped.
The figures on the opposite side of the sand tray represent the outside world, going along happy and content. No one else knows what the family is going through, and it is unfortunate that we are unable to find shelter and comfort in the current circumstances.
